We pass through Kapilvastu and quiet towns like Gorusinghe and Chandrauta, continuing through the Arghakhanchi and Dang districts. Here, forested hills and rolling landscapes lead us into the inner Terai valley. We will take a lunch break around Lamahi or Bhalubang, where we can enjoy a traditional Nepali meal. After lunch, we continue west along smooth highways through the Banke district, passing along forest corridors near Banke National Park. From Kohalpur, we head toward Chisapani, where we will cross the spectacular Karnali Bridge over the turquoise Karnali River.

Next, we turn toward Ambassa and travel along a scenic 13-kilometer road adjacent to the jungle, leading us to Thakurdwara, the gateway to Bardia National Park. The evening unfolds in this peaceful and remote setting, with options for sunset walks along the riverbanks, opportunities for wildlife sightings such as deer or elephants, visits to traditional Tharu villages, and a tranquil night under a brilliant, star-filled sky, accompanied by the soothing sounds of the jungle.

Nevertheless, the journey does not conclude at this point. Your journey will guide you to the fascinating Crocodile Breeding Center, where you can gain insights into the initiatives dedicated to the conservation of these extraordinary reptiles. It is a unique opportunity to acquire insight into the conservation efforts within the park.

In the evening, prepare to be mesmerized by a cultural dance performed by the local Tharu community. Delight in their traditional performances, which will take place right on the premises of the hotel. Day 11: Bardia National Park to Sauraha

After early morning breakfast, you depart the hotel in Thakurdwara, drive 13 km north through local villages to reach Ambassa on the Mahendra Highway, then head east to cross the iconic Karnali Bridge at Chisapani—an asymmetric, single-tower cable-stayed bridge spanning the massive Karnali River. From 7:30 to 10:30 AM, you'll traverse the lush Sal forests of Banke National Park, passing through Kohalpur and continuing east toward Lamahi and the Dang Valley, where the scenery shifts to rural farming communities, vast mustard fields (in winter), and seasonal riverbeds. Between 10:30 AM and 1:30 PM, the highway climbs and winds through the lower Churia foothills, requiring focused driving on blind curves alongside slower cargo trucks, before reaching Butwal by early afternoon for lunch at one of its many Thakali eateries or multi-cuisine restaurants. The 1:30 to 4:30 PM stretch to Narayangarh is historically notorious for traffic congestion, gravel bypasses, and dust clouds due to ongoing road widening, though you'll pass the edge of Daunne hill with its steep switchbacks before descending back into the flat inner Terai plains. Finally, from 4:30 to 5:30 PM, you'll arrive at Narayangarh/Bharatpur on the Narayani River, leave the Mahendra Highway, and turn south through Tandi (Tadi Bazaar) in Ratnanagar, following a smaller local road for about 6 km through scenic Tharu villages, expansive rice paddies, and local resorts until you reach Sauraha, the main tourist hub of Chitwan National Park.

From Narayanghat, turn onto the Mugling–Narayanghat Highway and enter the dramatic Trishuli River gorge, driving through cliffs and deep valleys where the road follows the river and offers striking views, though careful driving is needed due to winding bends and occasional rockfall-prone areas. Continue to Mugling, the main highway junction, and cross the bridge to join the Prithvi Highway, while enjoying riverside views, rafting activities, and a refreshing break. Afterward, continue the drive through Malekhu, Galchhi, and Naubise, passing terraced fields, small towns, and ongoing road construction sections as you gradually approach the hills.
